The e-bike season 2016 has been opened! That is the corresponding conclusion after the great premiere of the E – BIKE Festival Dortmund 2016 presented by SHIMANO which happened from the 15th to the 17th of April in Dortmund. About 50.000 visitors came to the huge exhibition of Europes biggest event around e-mobility and benefited from the presence of 104 exhibitors to get to know the newest trends and products of this industry.
The spectators a long the course around the Reinoldikirche were excited about the kids race SCOTT Junior Trophy presented by Ruhr Nachrichten. 40 kids raced on Sunday through the city centre of Dortmund. The youngest kids, Levi Schall and Oscar Gaar were just four years old. The winners were: scar Gaar (Minis), Finn Nelke (age group. 1–4), Finn Fotschki (age group 5–6), Felix-Maximilian Schmid sowie Fabian Dworniczak (age group 7–8) und Joel Richard Janthur (age group 9–10). The challenge for next year is definetly to get more kids thrilled about participating in this race.
The highlight of the second evening was definitely the finals of the DSW21 E-Bike Nightsprint on the eMTB-test course epowered by Bosch in the centre of Dortmund. Haibike pro rider Guido Tschugg met the challenge very confident and won this race ahead of Joel Janthur and Marco Gindelhuber. Lea Schleifenbaum became first, Marion Böcher from Dortmund second and Ingrid Berlemann third women.
The response on Saturday was again phenomenal: The exhibitors are absolutely thrilled about the location Dortmund as well as the politics. The minister of transportation of NRW Michael Groschek was excited during his visit around the exhibition area of the festival: “Dortmund will become the leading trade fair capital for e-bike worldwide. Dortmund will be the states business card for e-mobility” promises Michael Groschek.
The first CargoBike Race Dortmund seemed to be a real crowd puller. Probably because of the peculiar bike constructions and the cool guys and girls riding those special bikes. 35 riders in total came from all over Europe to take part in this race.
What a great kickoff of the first „E — BIKE Festival Dortmund 2016 presented by SHIMANO“. After the official opening ceremony by Dortmunds head mayor Ullrich Sierau Europes biggest festival around e-mobility celebrated a successful first day: great weather – better than expected-, lot of visitors and the more than 100 exhibitors were very pleased about the interest shown in their products.
