The 3rd edition of the DEW21 E — BIKE Festival Dortmund presented by SHIMANO welcomed around 55,000 visitors to the centre of Dortmund as the sun shone down on the 150 exhibitors presenting all the latest products and trends from the world of electric bikes. This year e-bikes are set to become more comfortable, more luxurious, more connected and a little lighter, while a growing number of roadbikes are now also being fitted with electric motors. A total of 150 exhibitors from both Germany and other countries brought an estimated 1500 e-bikes with them to the DEW21 E — BIKE Festival Dortmund presented by SHIMANO for visitors to test. One of the new features for 2018 was the redesigned SHIMANO Test Area featuring an “eMTB” test course for dirt and fun riding as well as an “eUrban” test course. For three days, all eyes in the e-mobility scene turned to the German city of Dortmund. The festival began on Friday morning with a symposium. The DEW21 Stage hosted discussions, talks and some of the best up-and-coming local rock and pop bands as part of Dortmund Calling. Further highlights included the 3rd Outdoor/Indoor Cycling im Pott event, which saw 15 riders on spinning bikes push on the pedals for three hours. The festival concluded on Sunday with the very popular DEW21 Family Day.
