DEW21 Themed Tours

Testing in a different way!

Whether sportingly with the e-mountainbike, comfortable through a beautiful scenery or past old industrial treasuresy – this year DEW21 offers selected e-bike tours around the „Ruhr megacity“ Dortmund. The approximately 1.5 hours tours will be led by experienced, local guides. Wether beginner or pro – anyone can take part and e-bikes can be borrowed directly from bike partners on the festival ground. A registration is required.

Meet your group 15 minutes prior to the take-off time at DEW21 booth next to the DEW21 festival stage.

BEGINNERS

DEW21 Building culture Tour
At the beginning of this tour, old railway lines lead us out of the city to Phoenix-West. This is an old steel mill, which is nowadays used as a technology center. After that we bike to Phoenix Lake area, for which Dortmund received the German Urban Development Prize in 2018. On the way back you will be able to check out Schüren, where you will explore old village structures that show generous suburban philosophies of 1900. We will also pass the Kaiserstrasse, which is a district build in the imperial era.

DEW21 E-MTB Tour Deusenberg
From landfill to recreation area. At first glance that seems to be a contradiction, but at Deusenberg it has become a reality. Next to a wonderful view over the Dortmund city center, the area offers exciting trails on the slopes of the mountain, including steep turns and bumps on the summit plateau.

ADVANCED

DEW21 Enjoyment Tour
This tour leads to countryside in the southwestern part of Dortmund. The group will bike on small roads and bike paths along renatured waters, through old villages, and past large courtyards.

DEW21 INDUSTRIAL & CULTURAL TOUR
Dortmund heritage is truly exceptional. On this tour through the northwestern part of Dortmund, we will visit the old industrial sites of the “Hansa Coking Plant” and the “Minister Stein Colliery.” On the way there we can listen to the Emscher river and take a look at the city from the Deusenberg viewpoint
